Job description

Library Assistant - Part-Time

Gananoque Public Library prioritizes accessible, equitable, and welcoming customer service. The Library Assistant – Children’s Programmer / ILL Clerk ensures consistent service and workflow in accordance with Board policy, in coordination with the CEO.

Responsibilities
  1. Plans and runs children’s story-time.
  2. Assumes primary and backup responsibility for circulation desk activities, including checking in, signing out, and shelving materials.
  3. Provides reference and reader’s advisory services to patrons.
  4. Assists with interlibrary loan (ILL) functions by processing internal and external requests for ILL materials.
  5. Helps patrons use public access computers, printers, wireless internet, and photocopiers.
  6. Supports the library’s homebound outreach program.
  7. Assists with receiving and cataloguing new materials.
  8. Participates in weeding the collection and repairing/discarding damaged resources.
  9. Performs other duties as assigned.
