Our reputable client is looking for a Jr. Accountant to join their dynamic finance team!

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Jr. Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial records and transactions. This position is essential in maintaining organized financial records, preparing reconciliations and reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The Jr. Accountant will also collaborate across departments and companies, gaining valuable hands-on experience in accounting functions and process improvements.

The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively. Strong communication skills, a willingness to learn, and a team-oriented mindset are essential for success in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform timely and accurate accounting activities, including preparation of month-end reconciliations and journal entries.
  • Prepare and file GST returns in compliance with regulations.
  • Compile and maintain monthly financial reporting records.
  • Track and manage insurance-related documentation.
  • Record and post property closings accurately.
  • Maintain and update asset tracking systems.
  • Assist in preparing year-end budgets, audit files, and financial analyses.
  • Collaborate with other departments to reconcile data and ensure accuracy.
  • Identify and support process, system, and procedural improvements.
  • Provide cross-functional support within the Accounting Team.
  • Offer administrative assistance, including filing and organizing supporting documentation.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned to support the Accounting Team’s goals.

Education:

  • Completion of a post-secondary program in accounting, bookkeeping, or a related field is required.
  • Actively pursuing or plan to pursue an accounting designation is an asset.

Qualifications:

  • Full proficiency in Microsoft Suite is required.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or FAST is considered a strong asset.

Experience:

  • 1+ year of experience in accounting is required.
  • Experience working in construction or a similar industry is considered an asset.

Base Salary: $50,000 – 60,000

  • Salary based on experience
  • Full benefits package included (following 3-month probation)

Work Hours:

  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday

Remote Work:

  • This position is not remote and required to be on-site.

  • This opportunity does not include relocation. It will be the responsibility of the candidate should relocation be required.
