Reporting to the Senior Mine Geologist, you will be part of the Geology Department. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct, and the environment.
Responsibilities:
- Promote a healthy, safe, and environmentally compliant working environment;
- Complete and verify all ore block mark-ups against ore block design plans;
- Ensure correct following of the ore design procedure and proper management of ore-polygon data;
- Update Grade Control block model with mineable provisional and final ore-polygons monthly;
- Identify and sample blast holes correctly, ensuring NAG/PAG sampling is performed as per procedure;
- Ensure safety and quality in sampling by all geology personnel and drilling contractors;
- Compile geological data, report results, and improve ore body modeling and grade estimation;
- Maintain clear communication with geological, engineering, and mine operations teams;
- Update database and Datamine with drilled holes data;
- Provide updated drilling plans for weekly reports;
- Apply geoscience expertise in drilling, sampling, QA/QC, grade control, and reconciliation;
- Perform geological mapping and interpretations using traditional and digital techniques with software like Datamine Studio RM or Maptek PointStudio;
- Create block models using geological, structural, and grade information for resource/reserve estimation;
- Process ore blast movement data using specialized equipment, software, and drone technology.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Geology;
- At least five years of experience as a production geologist, preferably in an open pit mine;
- Registration with APGO or in the process of registration;
- Eligible to be registered as a Drone pilot;
- Experience with 3D software, preferably Datamine Studio RM or Maptek Vulcan;
- Experience in geological modeling and drill core logging;
- Experience working at remote sites is an asset;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

- 14/14 schedule at Detour Lake Mine;
