We are hiring experienced Tailings Operators to join our Coarse Tailings Operations team in Fort McMurray. Do you have an extraordinarily strong safety mindset and want to gain a rewarding experience in the oil sands industry? We’d love to hear from you!

Minimum Requirements:
  • Three or more years of experience as a tailings cell dozer operator; experience in an oil sands mine is preferred
  • Experience operating mechanical equipment such as pumps, light plants, and hydraulic power units would be an asset
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record
Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to safety and environmental requirements
  • Operate tailings heavy equipment (D8 cell dozer, line patrol, forks, backhoe, grader transporter, and fuel truck)
  • Safely and efficiently perform cell construction in summer and winter months
  • Maintain dykes within an active cell, remove and install nipple pipe, track pack, monitor spill box
  • Prepare tailings pedestal for future cell construction (dry dyke, build ramps, read and interpret survey stakes)
  • Complete equipment inspection logbooks and checks, and communicate significant changes to the tailings team lead
  • Perform tailings line switches and maintain clear communication with the control room specialist
  • Perform equipment isolation for maintenance activities
  • Maintain housekeeping in the assigned area at a high level
  • Ensure that shift change is well communicated
Location and other Key Details:
  • You will work out of our Base Plant Mine in Fort McMurray
  • The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)
  • This is not a camp-based role
  • This position is safety sensitive
