Job summary

West Vancouver Schools is seeking a full-time teacher for a French Immersion position, effective September 2, 2025. The ideal candidate will demonstrate fluency in French and English, experience with the BC Curriculum, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.

Job description

Effective September 2, 2025, until June 30, 2026

The annual salary for a full-time teaching position ranges from $59,711 to $109,520, with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. The salary will be prorated based on FTE.

Required Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate for this position must demonstrate evidence of the following:

  1. Native-like fluency in spoken and written French and English
  2. Experience in French Immersion with a proven understanding of the French Immersion BC Curriculum, particularly the Big Ideas and Core Competencies
  3. A strong capacity for and proven experience in supporting and enhancing early literacy and numeracy in a French Immersion context, with an emphasis on accommodations and differentiation
  4. Knowledge and experience using digital literacy and AI to support student learning
  5. An understanding of the First People's Principles as they relate to the curriculum and local context
  6. A proven ability to frame the curriculum and classroom management around equity, diversity, inclusivity, and reconciliation
  7. A wide range of assessment strategies (formative, summative, peer, and self-assessment)
  8. Proven ability to create a safe and caring learning environment using social-emotional learning principles and executive function fundamentals
  9. The ability to build strong relationships and utilize effective oral and written communication skills with students and stakeholders
  10. The ability to work collaboratively within a school and district team to create a stimulating, creative, and engaging educational environment
