Pinchin Ltd. is seeking a motivated Project Manager (Biologist / Ecologist) to join our growing Environmental Science (ENS) team in Northern Ontario. The successful candidate will report to the Operations Manager or Regional Director and contribute to the growth of the ENS group in Ontario. Remote or flexible work arrangements will be considered.

The Project Manager will be expected to:

  1. Design and direct technical work.
  2. Prepare disciplinary and coordinate multidisciplinary proposals.
  3. Manage budgets and schedules.
  4. Ensure report quality and provide technical training.
  5. Assist with strategic business development.

The successful candidate will support Pinchin's land development services and work on various biological/ecological projects mainly in real estate, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure sectors. Biological work will focus on natural environment baseline and monitoring studies for land development, including due diligence, permitting, and construction projects.

A Day in the life of an ENS Project Manager at Pinchin :

  1. Lead biological field studies and technical reports.
  2. Manage and train field staff, oversee data collection.
  3. Review background sources for environmental opportunities and constraints.
  4. Conduct biological investigations, including botanical inventories, habitat classification, and Species at Risk surveys.
  5. Review or prepare scientific reports.
  6. Coordinate research, data management, analysis, and reporting tasks.
  7. Consult with regulatory agencies for background info and review comments.
  8. Oversee environmental permits and develop mitigation measures.
  9. Monitor environmental features and habitats.
  10. Write proposals, schedule fieldwork, and liaise with clients and team members.

What you bring to the Pinchin team :

  1. Post-secondary diploma, Bachelor's or Master's in Biology, Ecology, or related field.
  2. 4-7 years of relevant experience, with project management experience preferred.
  3. Skills in identifying Ontario flora and fauna, including Species at Risk and habitats.
  4. Certifications such as Ecological Land Classification, Wetland Evaluation, ISA Arborist, etc., are assets.
  5. Knowledge of environmental management, planning, and permits.
  6. Understanding of legislation like ESA, Species at Risk Act, and others.
  7. Strong organizational and communication skills.
  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
