Job description

Your Opportunity:

The Central Alberta Cancer Centre is one of four regional cancer centers in Alberta, providing comprehensive cancer care services. The Pharmacy at the center is a vital component of the facility. Core duties of the pharmacist may include:

  • Reviewing medication orders for safety, efficacy, and compliance with the Outpatient Cancer Drug Benefit Program
  • Dispensing medications and supervising technicians in medication dispensing and sterile product preparation
  • Monitoring drug therapy for safety, efficacy, and clinical outcomes
  • Detecting and reporting adverse drug reactions
  • Providing clinical pharmacy services to patients and drug information to healthcare providers
  • Assisting in therapeutic decision-making for patient treatment
  • Teaching healthcare providers and patients about drug use
  • Representing the department on committees
  • Participating in education, training, multidisciplinary work groups, and special projects

Description:

As a Pharmacist I, you will be responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical services. You will manage medication therapy, provide assessment, intervention, and resolve drug-related problems, and oversee compounding and packaging activities.

Salary Range: $54.69 - $62.88/hour

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy, active or eligible registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP).

Preferred Experience and Skills:
Completion of a recognized pharmacy residency or equivalent hospital experience, additional prescribing authorization (APA), oncology pharmacy experience, clinical multidisciplinary care experience, evidence-based medicine application, motivation for ongoing learning, memberships in CSHP or CAPhO, and familiarity with Connect Care and Windows applications.
