The Opportunity

Midland Transport is looking for a motivated individual to work as aEvening Dispatcher based out of Quebec City Terminal, QC.

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the transportation of freight with drivers and customers. You will schedule drivers for pickups and deliveries on specific routes and maintain up-to-date records.

The Work Schedule

Monday to Friday (1230 to 2130)

Qualifications

The Best Fit

  • You have 2 years' experience in dispatch
  • You are well-versed in the geographyof Quebec City area
  • You have excellent customer service skills
  • You have solid interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), organizational, and time management skills
  • You have knowledge of AS400 (asset)
  • You can work with minimal supervision under pressure and time constraints in a stressful environment
  • You are familiar with Microsoft Office Suite
  • You are open to working overtime if needed.
  • Advanced level of French and English (English required: 60% of communications with Ontario and Maritime sites, 50% of communications with English-speaking clients, 100% of reports from head office).
Responsibilities

The Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day communication, via phone and handheld, with an assigned fleet of drivers to ensure proper instructions are passed along and carried out
  • Line up loads to ensure on-time arrivals for deliveries or pickups
  • Manage service concerns, as required, to limit exposure and minimize impact on the customer
  • Provide drivers with the right information and equipment to make the entire customer experience positive from start to finish
  • Assist with dock operations at various times
  • Service, manifest, POD updating etc.
  • Coordinate and oversee APT and Prebooks
  • Work on various reports assigned by the manager
