In this role, you will bring over 10 years of engineering and industry experience, coupled with proven leadership skills, critical and analytical thinking, and a steadfast commitment to product quality. With a focus on concrete mix optimization and material testing, you’ll ensure consistency, cost-efficiency, and compliance with stringent industry standards.

As part of a dynamic team, this position requires excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility, and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. You’ll collaborate closely with operations leadership and oversee a dedicated quality control team while driving research and development initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide leadership to the quality control team and oversee all departmental activities to ensure product quality.
• Optimize concrete mix designs to balance consistency, strength, and cost-efficiency.
• Manage raw material inspection and testing to meet CSA and ASTM standards.
• Conduct and oversee field testing, including slump, air content, and concrete cylinder preparation.
• Drive research and development initiatives to enhance product performance and process innovation.
• Train and mentor team members in proper testing methods and quality assurance procedures.
• Collaborate with operations leadership to align quality initiatives with organizational goals.

Education:

• Civil Engineer or CET with a focus on concrete materials.
• Certifications in ACI, CSA 23.1, and Concrete Alberta field testing.

Qualifications:

• Valid drivers licence.
• Strong understanding of quality control processes in both field and lab environments.

Experience:

• 10+ years in engineering and/or the concrete industry, with a background in quality control.
• Hands-on experience with aggregate, soil, and concrete material testing in compliance with CSA and ASTM standards.
• Proven managerial experience leading small teams.
• Demonstrated success in training team members and ensuring adherence to testing standards.

Skills:

• Critical and analytical thinking for problem-solving and process optimization.
• Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively across teams.

Base Salary: $90,000 – 110,000 per year

• 40 hours per week
