Role Overview

CBC Calgary seeks a Senior Producer to lead digital strategy and content teams. Reporting to the Daily News Executive Producer, you will plan, develop, and oversee digital, video, and live content for CBC’s web, mobile, app, streaming, and social platforms. You will act as an editorial leader, advocating for creative storytelling and aligning with CBC’s news strategy.

Candidate Profile

We seek a journalist with experience in digital, broadcast, and social media, understanding audience consumption across platforms, and a proven record of growing digital audiences. Knowledge of emerging digital trends, analytics, and the ability to communicate insights is essential. You should be innovative, willing to take creative risks, and capable of guiding teams and supporting journalists in digital content creation.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Lead digital content creation and strategy.
  2. Collaborate with editorial teams to cover breaking news and enterprise stories.
  3. Mentor and support digital journalists and content creators.
  4. Ensure journalistic standards and community representation.
  5. Innovate with new storytelling techniques and workflows.
Qualifications
  • Strong journalistic skills and news judgment.
  • Experience in vetting, editing, fact-checking, and digital news packaging.
  • Leadership and mentorship abilities.
  • Knowledge of legal and ethical journalism issues.
  • Understanding of the Calgary community and diverse populations.
  • Experience with digital and social media strategies, analytics, and metrics.
  • Excellent communication skills and team orientation.
  • Proficiency in Polopoly, Adobe Analytics, CrowdTangle, Photoshop, 9CMS, TikTok, YouTube.
  • University degree or equivalent.
  • Minimum of seven years in a multi-platform news environment.
