WHAT YOU’LL DO

Our General Managers (GMs) provide frontline leadership to all Team Members and are responsible for the financial health of the store. GMs establish and cultivate a culture in their store that aligns with our core values and mission of Bettering People's Day. They demonstrate a strong work ethic, a passion for delivering quality results, and recognize and develop future Philz leaders. GMs support strategic initiatives by focusing on culture, community, and operations at their location.   • Interact daily with customers and employees to inspire and be part of the experience.
  • Create an employment experience aligned with Philz and our Core Values by training and developing team members and providing opportunities for professional growth.
  • Maximize store financial performance by creating a positive work environment that enables your team to deliver exceptional customer service and authentic interactions.
  • Set goals and expectations, manage performance issues, and hold team members accountable.
  • Partner with your district recruiter to attract, develop, and retain diverse, high-performing talent for current and future store growth.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED

No prior barista experience is necessary if you have a passion for people and a willingness to learn—we will teach you everything you need to know.

  • 3+ years managing a fast-paced, high-volume, customer service-oriented business, preferably in food service or retail.
  • Experience managing financial health of a retail operation, including P&L oversight, revenue growth, and cost management.
  • Ability to create an inclusive and dynamic team environment.
  • Proactive, self-starting, capable of working independently and in teams.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to recruit, motivate, train, and retain a team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
KEY REQUIREMENTS

You must have a Food Manager certification from prior work experience or complete the Philz Coffee Food Manager certification within 30 days of employment to ensure the well-being of our team and community.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to:

  • Operate various machines, tools, and equipment.
  • Maintain visual acuity for safety and accuracy.
  • Remain stationary for at least 3 hours.
  • Stand, walk, stoop, and kneel.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds intermittently and 3 pounds to shoulder height repeatedly.
  • Use grasping, finger, and reaching motions.
  • Communicate verbally for information exchange.

The estimated starting hourly rate is $32.19 - $36.19. This position is eligible for a bonus program based on performance.
