Job description

Experience: Will train

Tasks

1. Drive as part of a two-person team or convoy
2. Load and unload goods
3. Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
4. Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
5. Oversee the condition of the vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage, and other equipment
6. Perform emergency roadside repairs
7. Perform pre-trip, en route, and post-trip inspections and oversee all aspects of the vehicle
8. Perform preventive maintenance
9. Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled, and fuel consumption

Documentation knowledge

1. Accident or incident reports
2. Bill of lading
3. Inspection reports (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip)
4. Maintenance and repair reports
5. Trip reports
6. Operate GPS (Global Positioning System) and other navigation equipment
7. Trip recorder (on-board computer)

Support for newcomers and refugees

• Supports newcomers and/or refugees with foreign credential recognition

Support for youths

• Offers on-the-job training tailored to youth
• Offers mentorship, coaching, and networking opportunities for Indigenous workers
