As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) II, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations and the quality control function of the laboratory. You may have advanced technical knowledge or are the lead responsible for coordinating the day-to-day operations of Laboratory Information System (LIS) support, site education, quality assurance or laboratory research programs. Your responsibilities may include coordinating, prioritizing, monitoring and assigning work to MLT I's, providing technical advice, problem solving and troubleshooting on a variety of laboratory instruments. In addition, you will participate in the technical aspects of the laboratory, ensuring the performance of standard and specialized procedures.

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Good organizational skills and ability to assume responsibility. Ability to operate technical instruments and equipment and assisting with equipment maintenance. Participation in training of new staff. Must be able to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with patients / clients, families, staff, interdisciplinary team members, and personnel from other departments in a fast-paced and changing environment. Must demonstrate interest in professional growth and be prepared to maintain competency of technical skills. Proven analytic and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, logical / methodical work habits, and ability to work independently. Performing all required Quality Control procedures, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records. Investigating and documenting Quality Control problems. Following all established policies and procedures for performing and reporting laboratory procedures. Organizing and prioritizing specimens / procedures based on urgency of request, stability of specimen, and timing protocols. Troubleshooting and documenting technical problems and contacting service, as required. Minimum of five years’ experience in the designated laboratory division. Ability to work cooperatively with others and work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Ability to represent department with a professional manner. Previous computer experience required.
Ability to organize and work efficiently in a dynamic environment. EPIC / Beaker experience preferred. Proven analytic and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, logical / methodical work habits, and ability to work independently.
