Job description

Medix College is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technician/Assistant Program Instructor to join our team. In this dynamic role, you will have an immediate impact on students' lives and embody our Core Values by providing the knowledge they need to advance their careers.

Position Summary

The Instructor is responsible for modeling behavior that enables students to fulfill their academic potential through mentoring, planning, organizing, and implementing a structured learning approach, while following a prescribed curriculum aligned with the institution's core values.

Essential Functions
  1. Deliver the curriculum through lectures, presentations, and the use of learning management software.
  2. Utilize Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Learning Management Software (LMS) as needed.
  3. Instruct students in both classroom and clinical/lab settings.
  4. Take daily attendance and follow up to ensure retention goals are met.
  5. Record and submit grades promptly.
  6. Provide student support outside of class times.
  7. Participate in new student orientations.
  8. Attend faculty/staff meetings and graduation ceremonies.
  9. Stay current with industry trends and maintain relevant certifications or licensure.
  10. Exhibit professional behavior and represent the school positively.
  11. Treat all staff and students with respect, free from bias or discrimination.
  12. Create and maintain organized lesson plans and work areas.
  13. Manage student conflicts through behavioral observation and early intervention.
  14. Keep students and academic services informed with updates and news.
  15. Maintain communication with all departments.
  16. Conduct employer visits, field trips, and invite guest speakers.
  17. Engage with alumni to support Career Services.
  18. Assist students requiring accommodations.
  19. Pursue ongoing professional development in your field.
  20. Perform other duties as assigned by the Campus Director.
Position Requirements

Either:

  • 48 months of work or teaching experience in the vocation within the last 10 years, or a combination of both.

Or:

  • 24 months of work or teaching experience in the vocation within the last 10 years, plus one of the following:
  • Bachelor's Degree from a Canadian university or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a College of Applied Arts and Technology or equivalent.
  • Graduate of a registered PCC or equivalent.
  • Hold a Certificate of Qualification under the Ontario College of Trades and Apprenticeship Act, 2009, or equivalent.
  • Be in good standing with the Ontario Dental Association.
  • Possess CPR (Healthcare Provider Level).

Applicants must provide two references verifying relevant work or teaching experience. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications is required. Adult education experience and familiarity with Private Career Colleges are preferred.
