Position Details

Position Title: Co-op – Technology Specialist (Software Solutions)
Reports To: Director, Individual Actuarial Inforce and Policy Tax
Department: Individual Financial Reporting
Term: Temporary Full-Time, Four (4) Month Contract
Work Term: September 2, 2025 - December 19, 2025

Work Arrangements

This is a hybrid role. You will work in our Waterloo, ON office a minimum of two (2) consecutive days every other week, plus a fifth (5th) day per month. You are welcome to work more than the minimum, and some roles may require more in-office presence.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a diligent and self-motivated individual to join our Individual Actuarial Inforce and Policy Tax team. The ideal candidate will have a strong process improvement mindset, a proactive approach to efficiency, and excellent communication skills.

In this role, you will work within our Individual Insurance department on a team responsible for policyholder tax administration and resolving complex queries related to policyholder tax and inforce policies.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop new software solutions
  • Review current processes within the team
  • Recommend and implement process improvements
  • Create comprehensive documentation to support updated processes
Qualifications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
  • Process improvement mindset
  • Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including VBA
  • Knowledge of a programming language (e.g., Python, C, C++)
  • Knowledge of SQL
  • Knowledge of Automation Suite Tools (e.g., Pyautogui, Selenium) is an asset
  • Participation in Hackathons or Design Teams is an asset
  • Knowledge of API usage is an asset
  • Experience with Individual Life and Health products and taxation is an asset
