David Hawksworth's Bel Cafe is looking to add a Sous Chef to its BOH Team

Bel Café is growing, and we are looking to add a Sous Chef to our diverse BOH team.

Who We Are?
Bel Café is part of Hawksworth Restaurant Group, where we pride ourselves on the ability to create elevated and memorable experiences for guests in all our Cafes and Restaurants. Our culinary leaders showcase ingredients grown and sourced by local purveyors on menus that rotate seasonally. As a team, we take great care in how we execute the small details because we all share a collective passion for food, for coffee and for community.

Who You Are?
The person for this role is a champion of communication. They are humble and excited to learn and develop leadership skills; they bring creative ideas to menu development, and they are solutions-orientated when faced with challenges or setbacks.

Core Responsibilities:

  1. Ordering
  2. Active in prep
  3. Menu testing and development
  4. Directing work for a small team

Job Requirements:
  1. Minimum 5 years of Restaurant or Catering experience
  2. Minimum 2 years of Kitchen management in a comparable role (culinary school not required but considered an asset)
  3. Open Availability (early mornings, weekends, and some evenings)
  4. Experience with ordering/inventory management (Optimum Control or equivalent)
  5. Experience leading and directing a team
  6. Experience in menu development
  7. General computer skills
  8. Proficient in MS Word and Excel (an Asset)
