Description

The Diesel Mechanic inspects, maintains, diagnoses, and repairs assigned on-/off-road and heavy-duty equipment to ensure proper function, vehicle safety, and to meet quality and performance goals.

Responsibilities

1. Diagnose and repair on- / off-road and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment to meet preventative maintenance schedules, ensure proper function, and meet vehicle safety and quality goals.
2. Assist with entering data in the mechanic’s maintenance and repair database (e.g., Web Fleet Assistant - WFA).
3. Communicate concerns or escalate unusually complex or persistent problems to the Foreman or other manager.
4. Respond to service calls for equipment breakdowns when no supervisor is available to assist in diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues from the Control Room, Dispatch, or Drivers.

Additional Responsibilities

Education

• Heavy Duty Diesel Mechanics license.
• Red Seal Heavy Duty Journeyman Certification required.
• Valid “Class 5” driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract meeting Purolator’s insurance requirements (no more than four demerit points).
• At least 3 years of experience as a Diesel Mechanic.

• Service Reports and Logs Maintenance.

Physical Efforts

• Standing, physical strength (lifting up to 70 pounds), low back movements, reaching, manual dexterity.
