A Toronto-based independent author seeks a part-time Creative & Literary Promotion Assistant. This flexible role involves promoting literary works and music, supporting a new arts magazine, and requires creativity and organization. Ideal for those passionate about independent art and open to collaboration.
Location: Toronto-based preferred (Hybrid/Remote with in-person relationship building)
Type: Part-time / Flexible, $25-$35 per hour, 10 hours (probably more to be honest) per month for 1 - 3 months (or longer!)
Hi there,
I'm Alexander Paul Burton—an independent queer author, poet, musician, and self-publisher based in downtown Toronto. My work spans fantasy (The Hollow Vale), poetry and essays on identity, and a reflective series called #MillennialTruths. I also compose music, promote my own albums, and am building a new literary arts magazine centred around alternative voices, migration, queerness, and art as survival.
I'm looking for someone to join me as a Creative & Literary Promotion Assistant—someone versatile, dependable, and creative, who’s interested in working across genres and mediums. While much of the work can be done remotely, I’d really love to build this relationship in person over time, even if we just start with the occasional meet-up downtown. As a queer artist, I find mutual trust and authenticity flow best in real life first.
This isn’t your average "assistant" role. It’s a flexible position with real creative involvement and room to grow as we collaborate on marketing, publishing, and outreach efforts.
What You’ll Work On:
1. Book Promotion & Literary Outreach
2. Music & Multimedia Promotion
3. Creative Project Support & Magazine Development

Send me a short message, CV, or just a heartfelt note. Tell me who you are, what kind of creative work excites you, and why you think we might vibe. You don’t have to be polished or corporate—you just need to care.
Let’s build something brilliant together.
