Role Overview

The AVP, Student Success leads services that foster a respectful, welcoming learning environment, preparing students to thrive in a rapidly changing world. This pivotal role drives strategic initiatives, fosters innovation, and ensures continuous improvement of educational programs and services.

Guided by the college’s strategic priority of ÍY,ĆANEUEL OL (doing good work together), the AVP models collaboration, consultation, and cooperation, focusing on systems, structures, and processes that enable faculty and staff to deliver quality, student-centred programs and services.

Reporting and Collaboration

The AVP reports to the Provost and Vice-President Education and Innovation, collaborating closely with senior college leaders, Deans, the Registrar, and the Executive Director of Camosun International to align goals. This role also represents the Provost when required.

  • Director, South Island Partnership
  • Executive Director, Indigenous Education and Community Connections
  • Executive Assistant
Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate, develop, and oversee strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation for educational support and service areas.
  • Establish service standards and lead planning, assessment, and reporting efforts.
  • Lead evidence-based approaches to enhance program and service development and delivery.
  • Manage educational technology, systems, and tools used for education and service delivery.
  • Develop and implement the division’s equity, diversity, and inclusion plan, and support Indigenous initiatives and reconciliation efforts.
  • Oversee policies related to student conduct, research, copyright, and technology use, including handling appeals and supporting student issues.
  • Act as liaison to the Camosun College Student Society.
  • Participate in strategic planning and evaluate the effectiveness of strategies, leading change management initiatives.
  • Manage allocation of student fees and special funding.
  • Coordinate involvement in cross-college initiatives and serve on strategic programs and committees.
  • Lead in strategic enrollment management, focusing on student retention and success.
  • Research educational and social trends affecting service delivery.
  • Support professional development for faculty and staff, providing coaching and leadership development.
  • Build partnerships with other educational and community organizations.
  • Serve as deputy to the Provost, assuming delegated duties as assigned.
