SUMMARY
The Power Engineer – 5th Class is a mid-entry level position responsible for assisting other technicians, performing maintenance and repairs, and routine services on non-technical facility components. The role involves working in accordance with established processes and practices, and complying with environmental, health and safety, and fire protection requirements.
Please note, this position is located in Medicine Hat.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Troubleshooting
- Provides observations about facility, mechanical, and electrical systems conditions and deficiencies, and suggests improvements.
Maintenance
- Performs work according to established processes and practices.
- Ensures compliance with environmental, health and safety, and fire protection standards.
- Monitors and inspects facility components regularly.
- Responds to service requests, performs preventative and corrective maintenance.
- Operates facility systems.
- Manages work orders from dispatch to completion, ensuring quality and compliance.
- Assists in implementing preventative maintenance programs.
Client Relations
- Enhances tenant and customer satisfaction through quality service delivery.
Administration
- Records and tracks maintenance activities in the management database.
- Participates in facility projects.
- Ensures work complies with policies and regulations.
- Maintains tools and submits expenditures timely.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 3 years of facility operations and maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of facility processes and maintenance practices.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair non-technical components.
- Strong safety mindset and client-service orientation.
- Effective communication skills.
- Basic understanding of Building Automation Systems.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings.
- Self-motivated and willing to work shifts, on-call, and emergency calls.
- Willing to wear PPE and meet security clearance requirements.
Licenses and / or Professional Accreditation
- Must meet security clearance requirements.
Preferred Assets
- Building Operator Certification or equivalent.
- Building Systems Maintenance Certificate (SMC).
- Systems Maintenance Administrator (SMA).
- Systems Maintenance Technician (SMT).
- Working towards a trade license or Building Environment Systems (BES) Operation Class 1.
