Job description

OVERVIEW

Purpose of Job

To collaborate closely with other Company offices on assigned accounts. The key account management includes development of brand new accounts, participation in Requests for Quotation (RFQ), and expanding share-up lanes from the assigned accounts.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Experience in sales focused on perishable and non-perishable food logistics is required.
  2. Candidates must have knowledge of international shipping processes (air and ocean), cold chain logistics, and regulatory compliance, including but not limited to FDA, USDA, and FSIS requirements.
  3. Research, analyze, and identify business prospects through daily cold calling, web research, and networking for new business opportunities (on both local and out of state) whereby business travel will be necessary.
  4. Establish and cultivate business relationships and set up face-to-face visits with new potential customers while maintaining relationships with current customers.
  5. Gain additional business and/or maximize profit from the assigned accounts by periodical review of direct costs versus selling rates and relationship building with assigned accounts.
  6. Document all sales activity in the CRM (Customer Relations Management) software.
  7. Communicate effectively with employees, company overseas offices, and agents concerning target and assigned accounts.
  8. Participate in RFQs and collaborate with other offices to complete RFQs.
  9. Conduct weekly and/or bi-weekly calls with RVP to review current activities and issues pertaining to assigned accounts.
  10. Closely monitor accounts receivable with accounting staff to ensure timely collection, maintaining no more than 2% of total accounts receivable over sixty (60) days.
  11. Travel by car may be required.
  12. Travel by air (domestic and/or international) may be required.
  13. Overnight stays (domestic and/or international) may be required.
