Here we grow again! If you like working outdoors and enjoyed your summer job mowing lawns in middle school, then a job in the Horticultural Industry is for you. Horticultural companies work to preserve and enhance a client’s landscape.

Horticultural projects can be as simple as caring for grass and shrubs, or as elaborate as tending to turf, trees, and other landscape elements at a luxury resort.

Since maintaining the attractiveness of landscapes is so popular, there is rarely a shortage of work as a horticultural professional. This isn’t your simple summer lawn-mowing job anymore!

We at Mr. Lawnmower are looking for energetic and motivated individuals that have tremendous leadership qualities and are attention to detail-oriented. Mr. Lawnmower is based in Scarborough and currently has openings for a Lawn Maintenance/Landscape Construction Foreman and Landscape/Lawn-care Technicians. Candidates must be dependable, honest, and trustworthy. References will be mandatory.

Descriptions:

Landscape Construction Crew Foreman/Manager:

A qualified landscape construction foreman will be expected to have experience in and required to do the following:

1. Read blueprints and specs for projects.
2. Complete daily job site journals/work orders.
3. Perform weekly toolbox meetings.
4. Help with maintenance and cleaning of vehicles and equipment.
5. Ability to operate various pieces of equipment.
6. Hold a valid class G License.
7. Provide own transportation to project sites.
8. Work weekends and long hours.
9. Schedule materials and equipment for the next day.
10. Schedule and run crews.
11. Will be required to plant trees, shrubs, and lay sod.
12. Ability to rake, level, and grade.
13. Ability to install hard and soft landscapes (Wet Lay and asset).

Education:

1. High school diploma.
2. CLT/CLP or two-year technical college certificate in horticulture an asset.
3. Valid first aid certificate an asset.
4. WHMIS training an asset.
5. 2-4 years of experience.
