Business Development Manager – Transportation Electrification (Ontario)

At Polara, you’ll have the opportunity to take on exciting challenges, work on high-impact projects across sectors such as public and industrial transport, and develop tailor-made solutions for fleet electrification.

Your Mission

Reporting to the Vice President, Commercial, this role drives the growth of Polara’s activities in the Ontario market by building strong client relationships within the transportation industry and expanding our portfolio of solutions.

Your Responsibilities

  • Prospect and assess potential clients, leveraging business opportunities.
  • Negotiate and finalize agreements with key clients.
  • Maintain or increase account profitability by exploring new service categories.
  • Act as an ambassador for transportation electrification, providing consultative support to fleet operators (e.g., school buses, trucks, last-mile delivery).
  • Assess client needs and resources to recommend tailored solutions collaboratively.
  • Serve as the primary contact for clients, advocating for their interests.
  • Manage client relationships proactively and coordinate with internal teams.
  • Monitor projects at all stages to ensure client satisfaction.

First Year Objectives

  • Build strong client relationships to maximize cross-sales and enhance their experience.
  • Contribute to special projects aimed at improving the client experience.
  • Provide customer-oriented feedback to support the evolution of our products and services.

Ideal Candidate

Passionate about transportation electrification and business development, with a proactive, rigorous, and results-oriented approach to building and maintaining relationships.

Education and Experience

  • University degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience, including 3+ years managing key accounts in a B2B environment.

  • Strong business development and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to convert opportunities into revenue and foster sustainable growth.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to build harmonious internal and external relationships.

Specific Knowledge

  • Knowledge of the transportation industry (asset).
  • Knowledge of transportation electrification (asset).
  • Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
  • French proficiency is an asset (company based in Quebec).
