Job description

The Opportunity:

WSP has a significant volume of work supporting Canadian Nuclear Laboratories at the Port Hope Area Initiative. We have positions available for a range of technical field and office staff, and these needs will evolve over time. You’ll be part of our growing team, using your skills to support the implementation of one of Canada's landmark remediation projects. Currently, we require several staff to support the Remediation Verification program following the removal of Low Level Radioactive Waste.

What you can expect to do here:
  • Use your training daily to:
    1. Review past information to identify gaps and develop remedial sampling plans;
    2. Monitor excavations;
    3. Scan and sample excavations and characterize soils;
    4. Scan interiors and collect samples;
    5. Check and maintain equipment such as radiological instruments, GPS, x-ray fluorometers;
    6. Assist in resolving issues and determine remediation needs;
    7. Input data and perform quality reviews, often using GIS;
    8. Address field and data issues as they arise; and
    9. Report findings of the work.
  • The work may be field or office-based and not all work will be in Port Hope.
  • Assess hazards and support the health and safety culture of the project.
  • Manage relationships with internal teams, external teams, and clients, providing guidance and expertise.
What you’ll bring to WSP:

Candidates should have:

  • College or university education or experience in soil or groundwater assessment or remediation. Backgrounds in radiation protection, biology, GIS, or related disciplines are also applicable.
  • Preferably two years of field experience, especially in soil or groundwater sampling or radiation protection. Entry-level candidates may be considered for some roles.
