Job description

Thank you for applying with The Castro Animal Hospital (TCAH). We're seeking Veterinary Technicians (R.V.T) with a passion for veterinary medicine, excellent client care, and the ambition to become an intricate part of our healthcare team.

The Castro Animal Hospital (TCAH) is a busy five-doctor hospital in the bustling Castro/Duboce neighborhood on Church St. near Duboce Park. Muni is only feet away! There is a high demand for veterinary care in the Castro and surrounding communities. Our team strives to fulfill this demand with the highest quality of care.

Compensation: $32.00 - $40.00 / hour

Minimum Requirements:

1-year veterinary clinical experience required

The ideal candidate is proficient in the following areas:

  • Dog and Cat restraint
  • I.V catheter placement
  • Venipuncture (jugular, cephalic, medial/lateral saphenous)
  • Running in-house IDEXX lab work
  • Radiography
  • Familiarity with veterinary pharmacology
  • Calculating medication doses
  • Administering medications via all routes
  • Inducing Anesthesia (R.V.T.)
  • Intubating (R.V.T.)
  • Surgical monitoring
  • Client communication and education (excellent written and verbal skills)
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to decipher medical records
