Qualifications

Position Summary

Who Are We Looking For?
The Victorian Hospital of Kaslo is looking for a Casual Food Service Worker II to join their team as a Cafeteria Preparation Aide! The successful candidate must be reliable and have a flexible schedule (will include some weekends and holidays as required).

Please Note: Casual work does not guarantee hours and shifts are called on an as-needed basis.

What Will You Work On?
As a team player, you will perform a variety of duties within a Food Service Operation such as:
  1. Portioning and serving meals and beverages within a dining room and/or cafeteria operation.
  2. Setting tables and trays with items including condiments, utensils, and napkins.
  3. Collecting and unloading food service wagons.
  4. Washing and peeling vegetables and fruit.
  5. Preparing items such as meat, fish, or poultry for procedures including grinding, flouring, and breading.
  6. Counting, weighing, and/or measuring ingredients for assigned food preparation area.
  7. Preparing beverages and food items such as sandwich fillings, nourishments, and therapeutic diet items including tube feedings and milkshakes.
  8. Washing dishes and utensils.
  9. Performing cleaning duties such as sweeping and washing floors, cleaning countertops and tables.
  10. Clerical duties such as answering the telephone, running diet sheets off the computer, and writing information on menu cards.
  11. Receiving supplies and checking goods received against invoices.
  12. Taking and recording temperature of hot foods at point of service.

Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience:
- Grade 10,
- One year’s recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Food Safe Certificate.
