Job description

Our client, a leading EPCM company with projects across Canada, is currently recruiting for a Contract:

Mechanical Engineer

You are a motivated self-starter and team contributor with at least 10 years of progressive Mechanical Design experience within industrial or power generation facilities/equipment. You also bring the following skills and experience to the team:

COMPETENCIES
  1. Knowledge and proficiency in mechanical design and equipment specification.
  2. Prepare, verify, and implement equipment design calculations.
  3. Codes and Standards: Knowledge and proficiency with Saskatchewan Boiler & Pressure Vessel Act & Regulations, ASME including B31.1 and B31.3, ASTM, API, CSA, NBIC, NFPA, ASHRAE is a must. Knowledge of other regulatory and industry codes and standards is an asset.
  4. Experience using relevant software/tools; experience with additional software/tools is an asset. Must be comfortable working in an industrial establishment and reviewing models.
  5. Excellence in interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to operate independently as well as in a team environment.
  6. Demonstrated extensive experience with hydroelectric turbine-generator equipment design, specification and refurbishment, including repair procedures, dimensional and material verification, inspection and performance testing.
  7. Experience with natural gas-fired, simple cycle or combined-cycle, power generation equipment design, specification and refurbishment, including gas turbines, steam turbines, heat recovery system and condensers/cooling systems.
  8. Design and equipment specification experience related to mechanical engineering and power generation equipment/systems (i.e., turbines, pumps, fans, material handling and conveying equipment, heat exchangers, piping, pressure vessels, HVAC systems, ducting and expansion joints, fire protection systems).
  9. Project management experience, including the development of scopes of work, cost estimates, technical specifications, procurement documents and bidding evaluations, as well as contract negotiation and management.
  10. On-site services including site inspection, field survey, construction supervision, and commissioning support.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Systems Engineering.
  2. Professional Engineer (P. Eng) registered with APEGS (or eligible to register).
  3. Previous mechanical design experience required.
  4. Motivated, self-starter with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
