The Housekeeping Associate reports to the Environmental Services Manager and is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation throughout the home by cleaning and sanitizing rooms and furnishings in assigned areas following established policies and procedures. A key part of this role is actively involving residents in daily domestic activities, fostering meaningful occupation and engagement.

Responsibilities:

• Perform various housekeeping tasks, including surface cleaning, disinfecting, vacuuming, sweeping, washing, polishing, and waste management.
• Assist with laundry services as needed.
• Complete mandatory training sessions as scheduled.
• Maintain safe infection control, health, and safety practices.
• Respect residents' privacy and dignity, promoting confidentiality within a warm, homelike environment.
• Report safety or risk concerns immediately to the Environmental Services Manager or designated personnel.
• Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members.
• Promote the organization's vision, mission, and values, and uphold residents’ rights.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Ability to read, write, and understand instructions in oral and written form.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• Previous experience in housekeeping, ideally in hospitality or a retirement home setting.
• Experience in healthcare or hospitality is an asset.
• Empathy and understanding of the needs of elderly residents.
• Ability to work with compassion and make others smile.
• Effective time management to provide positive social interactions.
• Knowledge of the Retirement Homes Act and relevant legislation.
• Understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
• Must have a recent vulnerable sector screening (within 6 months), TB test results (within 6 months), and three supervisory references.
