The Opportunity :
HUB International is expanding, and we are looking for an Associate Consultant to work with organizations across Canada. Leveraging your expertise in absence and disability management, you will assist, execute, and lead mandates, providing recommendations on various programs and strategies. This role also supports colleagues with complex consulting strategies within our Employee Benefits Consulting Practice.
This dynamic role requires strong teamwork, technical skills, and a commitment to service excellence.
A day in the life :
You will work directly with clients to lead and execute absence and disability management consulting mandates, supporting tasks such as:
- Utilizing in-depth knowledge of disability management processes and best practices.
- Interpreting and analyzing complex disability contracts.
- Assisting senior colleagues with larger-scale consulting strategies and mandates.
- Developing and implementing tools for disability management consulting.
- Helping clients improve their absence and disability management documentation and governance.
- Implementing best practices and monitoring program performance.
- Mentoring clients and colleagues on complex disability claims scenarios.
- Conducting process, policy, and claims audits.
- Managing small to medium-sized projects from start to finish with a strategic mindset.
- Analyzing data sets and developing actionable strategies or operational efficiencies.
- Communicating effectively with clients via virtual meetings, emails, and in-person sessions.
- Facilitating client meetings, creating agendas, documenting notes, and following up on action items.
- Keeping projects on track to meet client objectives.
- Developing tools and templates to streamline internal processes.
- Preparing client-facing reports and presentations.
- Collaborating with vendors and insurance carriers to execute targeted programs.
- Maintaining and updating client files within our internal network.
- Working collaboratively with the national team on client projects.
- Conducting industry research on absence and disability management trends.
- Peer reviewing and providing feedback on team documents.
- Assisting with special projects as needed.
Who you are :
- 3-5 years of experience in case management within insurance or a third-party provider.
- Proven experience with STD, LTD, and salary continuance.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field.
- Strong analytical, creative, strategic, and integrative skills.
- Advanced data analysis and interpretation capabilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organization.
- Ability to deliver high-quality work efficiently and accurately.
- Excellent time management and project management skills.
- Growth-oriented mindset, open to feedback and development.
- Adaptability and quick learning in a changing environment.
- Excellent customer service skills with clients, vendors, and insurers.
- Knowledge of current trends in absence and disability management.
- Proactive problem-solving skills.
- Polished communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong teamwork and self-motivation.
- Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
Other qualifications :
- Certifications like Certified Disability Management Professional (CDMP).
- Experience in benefits management.
- Certificates in mental health, psychological safety, or insurance education/training.
- Knowledge of human resources, CNESST, Workers' Compensation Boards, and occupational claims management.
