We have an opening for a next level full time video journalist position on the dynamic CityNews Montreal team.

Responsibilities:

1. Pitches fresh, original stories
2. Shoots, edits, reports and presents news stories on all platforms - including continuous posting to website, X, Facebook, Instagram, and other platforms, throughout the shift to engage audience
3. Organizes material and writes engaging, relevant and concise news stories under tight deadlines according to prescribed editorial style and format standards
4. Presents scripted and unscripted coverage live on-air and on other media platforms from remote locations and/or in-studio environment- including LIVE on social media platforms
5. Generates compelling story ideas and knowledgeable contacts and responds to breaking news situations quickly and accurately
6. Generates compelling multi-media content
7. Posts to digital throughout the day and writes articles for web content
8. Be fluent in social media trends with personal accounts and the knowledge to use it to generate stories and ideas

Qualifications:

1. Proven experience generating powerful, credible original content
2. Proven experience operating a video camera and editing to deadlines
3. Relevant degree / diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution
4. A person who relentlessly pursues a story beyond the headline
5. A person who’s not afraid to push for answers
6. A person who truly understands multi-platform coverage and doesn’t feel bound by the confines of a typical Television reporter package
7. A person who won’t let a dead end stop them from producing a compelling story
8. Excellent knowledge of the cultural and political landscape of the city
9. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
10. Proven ability to work well in a team environment
11. Must be able to multi-task, deliver great content under tight deadlines and work well under pressure
12. Ability to be flexible in a changing work environment
13. Ability to consistently generate original content ideas
14. Must be available to work evenings and weekends
15. On air experience and live presentation experience
16. French written and spoken required
