We are currently seeking to hire a General Building Maintenance Worker

Benefit: 2 weeks annual vacation

Anticipated Start Date: As soon as possible

Location: 9-826 King St N, Waterloo ON N2J 4G8

Details of this position:

  • Permanent, Full time
  • 36- 40 hours a week Minimum
  • Be able to work weekends, extra time over any regular day hours if required
  • $25.00/hour

Requirements of this position:

  • Assists in maintaining and troubleshooting, general maintenance of buildings, minor repair work to hvac systems, plumbing, electrical, drywall, flooring, framing, installations of appliances;
  • Do garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawn, collecting trash etc.;
  • Maintains, and repairs building fixtures and equipment, including locks, windows, doors, screens, window coverings, gutters, drains, shelving, etc;
  • Conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs;
  • Inspect and Investigate power outages with breaker panels or other;
  • Makes simple furniture, cabinets, Asphalt, tile, Carpet and linoleum other repairs;
  • Assist in moving furniture and Install appliances and equipment;
  • Perform other routine maintenance jobs, like drywall repairs, and painting;
  • Check functionality of safety systems (e.g. fire alarm);
  • coordinate the preparation of housing units prior to the arrival of new residents;
  • Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations;
  • Scheduling deliveries from suppliers and keeping an inventory of maintenance tools and supplies;
  • Responding to maintenance requests;
  • Perform daily inspections on the building systems;
  • Report to a facilities or maintenance manager for issues;
  • Making recommendations and requests for new maintenance products and equipment as necessary;
  • Ensuring compliance with safety codes and regulations;

What will you need?

  • 1-2 Years experience in Maintenance
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems
  • Experience using hand and electrical tools
  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Physical stamina and dexterity
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a valid driver's license and abstract
  • Provide a police background check on yourself
