POSITION OVERVIEW

Are you passionate about entrepreneurship and want to contribute to the success of Canadian businesses? Do you have strong strategic planning, positioning and B2B product marketing experience? BDC is looking for a Senior Advisor, Product Marketing, to help promote its products and services, for a temporary 6-month renewable mandate.

The ideal candidate has strong experience and a good understanding of all aspects of the product life cycle. This person has a proven track record for delivering crips positioning, messaging and content, as well as impactful multi-channel marketing plans to promote existing offers and launch new ones. This person will work cross-functionally with internal and external communications, different marketing expertise leads, as well as product owners. As such, the ability to build trust and relationships, bring expertise to the table while working-cross functionally at all levels across the organization and adapt quickly to change, are key qualities in this role.

We are looking for an experienced and well-versed marketer who is passionate about the products and services we offer and about delivering industry-class experiences for Canadian entrepreneurs. The ideal candidate must enjoy working in a fast-paced environment driven by teamwork, creativity, performance, and be comfortable acting as a lead providing marketing guidance to all levels of the organization.

CHALLENGES TO BE MET

  • Work closely with BDC product development teams and all lines of business to develop marketingcommunications strategies and plans, and bring them to life with clear positioning, value propositions, naming and key messages.

  • Provide strategic advice to position, build strategic plans and promote BDC products and initiatives through successful multi-channel marketing campaigns

  • Work with internal stakeholders (translation, branding, Web and digital experience, public relations, etc.) to ensure efficient marketing content creation, publication, and promotion.

  • Write clear marketing briefs to guide the development of marketing communication assets

  • Help set key performance indicators for campaigns, monitor progress and recommend/implement any necessary changes to improve performance.

  • Create engaging content, including website, marketing materials and sales support material in collaboration with product, sales, communications and marketing teams

  • Ensure consistency of brand positioning and messaging in all communications to meet BDC’s style guide and inclusive writing standards.

  • Stay on top of the latest news and economic trends affecting small and medium-sized businesses as well as entrepreneurs’ preferred modes and channels of communication.

  • Oversee the work of external resources when required.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing and / or communications; a master’s or graduate degree are considered an asset

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a senior or lead marketing position

  • Proven experience and success in a Senior Product Marketing Manager role, i.e. being knowledgeable about products, customer obsessed, data driven and informed about the market, all to deliver crisp positioning and messaging, build impactful strategies, execute and measure success.

  • Proven cross-functional marketing experience and a good understanding of all functions

  • Proven track record of collaboration and experience in a cross-functional matrix

  • Ability to clearly and concisely communicate your vision to collaborators– including creating crips briefs and leading projects

  • Excellent skills in marketing and communications strategies, B2B product launches, positioning, naming and creating engaging and convincing communications

  • A successful track record of launching products and campaigns

  • Bilingualism (French and English) is required

  • Ability to manage and track budgets

  • Strong leadership abilities, including polished communication and negotiation skills

  • An ability to work under pressure and manage changing timelines

  • Good knowledge of the small business environment and economic issues

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage several projects simultaneously; Autonomous, excellent judgment and initiative
