The Clinical Director of Care/IPAC Manager reports to the Executive Director and provides leadership to the resident care team, ensuring all aspects of resident care meet legislative and professional standards. They effectively manage human, material, and fiscal resources, develop resident-focused programs, policies, and procedures, and monitor quality of care through continuous improvement activities.

Director of Care Responsibilities:
  1. Promote and support the organization's Vision, Mission, and Values.
  2. Lead the nursing team in providing Person-Centered Care.
  3. Ensure legislative compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including the Fixing Long-Term Care Act, 2021, Ontario Regulation 246/22, and others.
  4. Uphold residents’ rights as outlined in the Resident Bill of Rights.
  5. Develop policies and procedures aligned with best practices and legal standards.
  6. Manage financial aspects of the nursing department, including budgeting and staffing.
  7. Perform other duties as assigned.
IPAC Manager Responsibilities:
  • Lead and supervise screening staff, RNs, RPNs, and PSWs, implementing infection prevention and control practices.
  • Oversee recruitment, performance management, and staff development.
  • Manage surveillance activities, including testing, data analysis, and outbreak monitoring.
  • Coordinate outbreak prevention and management efforts with public health and hospital partners.
  • Develop and review IPAC policies, conduct audits, and report on infection control metrics.
  • Lead vaccination clinics and training sessions.
  • Conduct annual program evaluations and collaborate on best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario or equivalent registration in another Canadian jurisdiction.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in long-term care nursing.
  • Certification from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (LTC-CIC) or willingness to obtain within two years.
  • Current NAC ICP certification.
  • Knowledge of infection control, long-term care practices, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in policy development and data analysis.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Computer literacy and commitment to ongoing learning.
