Hatch is seeking a dynamic Civil Engineering EIT (New Graduate) to join our Rail Engineering team based out of the Vancouver, BC office. In this role, you will be working on major railway projects in Western Canada.

By joining the Vancouver rail team, you will be part of the rail designer program where you will be trained on railway engineering in some of the most complex rail projects in Western Canada.

Your career progression may look like:

First 6 months:
  • Assigned a buddy to help you integrate into our team, office, and culture
  • Involved in support roles such as drafting and project coordination to immerse in railway engineering
First year:
  • Trained in the design of alignments, profiles, and corridors
  • Formal paid course on railway engineering
Second year:
  • Confidently perform responsibilities listed in this job description

As the successful candidate, you will:

  • Design alignments, profiles, and corridors using Civil 3D
  • Produce all levels of drawings from concept to detailed design
  • Collaborate in multidisciplinary design teams to develop functional designs in accordance with regulations, laws, and standards
  • Develop quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and design basis documentation
  • Maintain high-quality standards through quality control processes
  • Conduct site visits and develop field documentation
  • Attend client and contractor meetings

You bring:

  • A degree in Civil Engineering or related qualification from an accredited institution
  • Minimum 1+ years of experience in civil engineering or construction management
  • Construction, design, or railway experience is an asset
  • EIT status with EGBC or eligibility to obtain EIT within 6 months of hire

  • Ability to learn quickly and handle stretch roles
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
