Job description

Metrie is North America’s largest manufacturer and distributor of interior millwork, with a legacy that extends back to 1926. Originally established as a family-owned wood moulding business in Vancouver, B.C., Metrie has experienced significant growth over the years, while remaining dedicated to product excellence and delivering a superior customer experience. Metrie helps people transform houses into homes. That pursuit – through a passion for excellence, the delivery of exceptional outcomes and alongside passionate and committed leadership at all levels of the company across Canada and the US – is what makes them an industry leader. Today, Metrie operates over 30 locations across North America, employing a team of 2,000 professionals across distribution, manufacturing and corporate roles. The company remains under the ownership of the same family that founded it nearly a century ago and the upcoming Centennial celebration marks a milestone Metrie is eager to share.

Due to an upcoming and planned retirement, Metrie is seeking a visible and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who is highly engaged in the business and shares its ambition to become the most trusted millwork supplier in North America. The CFO reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and is a critical member of the Executive Leadership Team, contributing to the formulation of strategy and positioning of Metrie to ensure long term success of the business. Leading and mentoring a professional team of 40, the CFO ensures proper principles and reporting standards are followed for Canada and U.S. operations while overseeing all financial activities of the organization, including corporate finance, accounting, internal controls, treasury, tax, compliance, strategic financial planning, budgeting and forecasting. The CFO makes recommendations to the Board of Directors on annual operating plans, budgets and new areas of opportunity for both organic growth and strategic acquisitions.

The ideal candidate is a business-minded CFO in a large, complex, industrial organization with North American operations. Alternatively, they are a Chief Operating Officer or other senior operations leader with a previous background as head of finance. Experience that includes manufacturing, distribution, or working in a family business is ideal. So, too, is a track record driving innovation and acting as an inspirational and visible team leader. Armed with a CPA, the preferred individual brings a combination of technical, commercial, and operational knowhow to both grow and safeguard the organization’s assets.

Based in Vancouver, BC, this is an opportunity for a visionary and influential business leader to play a leadership role in a highly regarded North American market leader.

The base salary range for this position is $400,000 to $500,000 plus short- and long-term bonuses and attractive executive package.
