Jabil Ottawa - Senior (Lead) Transceiver Firmware Engineer

Jabil Ottawa is currently recruiting for a Senior (Lead) Transceiver Firmware Engineer. The successful candidate will play a key role in developing firmware and software for user interfaces, device control, and DSP schemes. The product line includes pluggable transceivers operating above 400Gb/s, such as QSFP-DD and OSFP form factors.

As a Lead Engineer, you will lead a cross-functional design team, ensure technical milestones are met, lead technical reviews, and align specifications with design outputs. Experience in product release into a production environment is essential.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Meet the requirements of Sr. Design Engineer, Product Line Management, and Customer.
2. Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in your field.
3. Represent Jabil Design Services in technical customer discussions and meetings.
4. Collaborate with Project Managers on quoting and scheduling.
5. Provide technical input to identify and mitigate project risks.
6. Support the development and adoption of best design practices.
7. At process phase gates, deliver complete design packages including requirements, documentation, databases, BOMs, etc.
8. Deliver comprehensive design analyses, including proposals, cost impacts, risks, and models.
9. Lead design engineering activities, including reviews, verification, specifications, supply chain feedback, and transfer to manufacturing.
10. Mentor Sr. Design Engineers and junior staff.
11. Provide technical support during manufacturing, prototypes, NPI, and production releases.
12. Stay updated on latest technologies to ensure competitive and cost-effective designs.
13. Assist management in resource identification for product development and analysis.
14. Perform additional duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering; Master's preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in firmware/low-level software development, especially for fiber optic transceivers.
• Experience with source code management, issue tracking, and build environments.
• Ability to work with global teams, with occasional travel and teleconferences.
