Your Opportunity: Description:

As a Protective Services Officer II, you will provide security and protective services for all patients, visitors, staff, and AHS property. Your responsibilities include violence monitoring, prevention and intervention; enforcement of applicable federal, provincial, and municipal statutes; asset loss prevention and internal investigations; preparation of court documents and securing evidence; risk assessment and hazard identification; arrests, apprehensions, and detentions of persons; and acting as a first responder to critical events. You will support facility departments on security and safety practices, participate in reviewing and recommending policies, and foster positive public relations through relationships with internal and external contacts.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Active (or eligible) for appointment as a Community Peace Officer with enforcement duties involving the public, as identified by the Province of Alberta/Solicitor General
  • Successful completion of Alberta Health Services or Alberta Justice and Solicitor General Community Peace Officer Induction Training Program (6 weeks)
  • Valid Class 5 (non-GDL) Driver's Licence
  • Valid Physical Abilities Requirement Evaluation (P.A.R.E.) completed within 6 months prior to employment, under 4:45 minutes

Additional Required Qualifications: As required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference given to candidates with two years post-secondary education in law enforcement or criminal justice
  • Two years related security/law enforcement experience preferred
  • WHMIS training preferred
  • Certificate in CPI Non-violent Crisis Intervention and Pressure Point Control Tactic an asset
  • Current First Aid and CPR Level C – AED certification
