About the role

We’re looking for an Accounting Specialist to join our growing team!

Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Canada supports strategic decision-making by providing financial insight and analysis of the Canadian underwriting results.

What you’ll do here:

1. Analyze Intact Canada's performance vs the industry
2. Produce underwriting forecasts. Regularly update forecasts to reflect changes in the business environment
3. Analyze and understand actual underwriting results in collaboration with actuaries. Explain variances between actual performance and budget/forecasts
4. Develop and manage the Canadian underwriting budget
5. Prepare regular financial reports for internal stakeholders, such as the executive team
6. Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) and financial metrics to assess business performance
7. Conduct adhoc financial analyses as requested by management. Provide insights and recommendations based on the analysis
8. Work closely with other departments to gather information and provide financial insights
9. Make recommendations and suggestions to management based on your expertise
10. Simplify, standardize, secure and increase controls of different work files

What you bring to the table:

1. Minimum 5-years professional experience in an accounting firm or insurance industry experience in a similar role
2. CPA or CFA designation - is required
3. Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint – is required
4. Strategic thinking, strong analytical ability and very well organized
5. Be able to clearly communicate the outcome of an analysis and present it in a concise, accurate and effective manner
6. Be autonomous, proactive and have strong teamwork skills
7. For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country
