Overview

Microsoft Research (MSR), a leading industrial research laboratory with over 1,000 computer scientists across the United States, United Kingdom, China, India, Canada, and the Netherlands, is seeking a Senior Researcher in Systems and Networking located in Vancouver, British Columbia. The focus will be on exploring advanced AI-driven methods for systems to accelerate innovation and develop a research agenda in collaboration with diverse teams.

Over 30 years, MSR scientists have conducted world-class research, integrating technologies into products and services, impacting millions and leading digital transformation.

Responsibilities

1. Conduct research on AI-driven system methods and technologies to identify opportunities for innovation.
2. Develop methodologies, techniques, and algorithms to improve system performance, efficiency, and scalability.
3. Collaborate with hardware and software engineers, data scientists, and product managers to develop and deploy solutions.
4. Stay updated with trends in AI, machine learning, and system architecture.
5. Evaluate system performance and recommend improvements.
6. Publish research findings and present results internally and externally.
7. Mentor researchers and engineers.
8. Collaborate with industry and academic partners on joint projects.

Qualifications

Required:

• Doctorate in computer science or relevant field.

Preferred:

• Doctorate with 2+ years of research experience or equivalent.
• Experience publishing as lead author or key contributor.
• Participation in top conferences.
• Background in systems, networking, machine learning systems, databases, and networking technologies.
• Knowledge of Agent Systems, Vector Database, and ML Systems.
• Research record in AI-driven system innovation is a plus.

Research Sciences IC4 salary range in Canada: CAD $108,100 - CAD $199,700 annually.
