TransCanada Turbines (TCT) is the sole authorized overhaul, repair and maintenance service provider for Siemens Energy and General Electric (GE) aeroderivative industrial gas turbines, serving an expanding international client base.

Summary

Reporting to the Team Lead, Inspection, the Radiographic Technician is responsible for the inspection, NDT, and sentencing of Siemens and General Electric Aeroderivative gas turbine components during component repair operations.

TransCanada Turbines has recently acquired radiographic inspection equipment. We are looking for a CGSB Level II RT to develop (alongside a CGSB Level III) each RT technique for the components that require radiographic inspection.

Duties

  • Perform Radiographic Testing (RT) on aeroderivative gas turbine components to identify any flaws or defects while ensuring strict adherence to safety regulations.
  • Act as the X-Ray Safety Officer (RSO) for TransCanada Turbines.
  • Develop component specific RT techniques for each required component.
  • Setup and calibrate NDT equipment.
  • When needed, perform LPI and visual inspection on gas turbine components as part of the component repair process.
  • Monitor and maintain the Inspection and NDT tooling and equipment. Ensure that this equipment is kept in a safe reliable working order. Remove from service any tool or equipment found to be defective.
  • Willingness to cross-train and gather new skills in support of the company’s changing needs, and to cross-train others.
  • Providing assistance, when required, to internal and external auditors.
  • Work closely with the HR and HSE departments to understand company policies and procedures, and ensure work is carried out accordingly.
  • Increase knowledge regarding the HSE Policy and Manual and maintain a positive attitude towards the health and safety of self and coworkers.
  • Take ownership of HSE issues and demonstrate enthusiasm and support for HSE.
  • Complete other duties as directed by the Team Lead, Inspection or designate.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must possess a minimum of CGSB Level II certification in Radiographic Testing (RT).
  • Applicants must possess or be working towards CGSB Level II certification in Penetrant Testing (PT).
  • Applicants that carry CGSB Level I or higher certifications in Magnetic Testing (MT) or Eddy Current Testing (ET) would be considered an asset.
  • Applicants that have an X-Ray Safety Officer Certification would be considered an asset. Applicants must be willing to obtain certification as an X-Ray Safety Officer.
  • A minimum of 5 years of related experience or a combination of education and experience that allows the individual to adequately perform the role, determined by the Team Lead, Component Repair.
