About the Opportunity

SJ Geophysics is looking formultiple contract or full-timeField Crew Leads. Contractpositions are open to candidates basedanywhere in Canada,whilefull-timepositions require candidates to reside in, or be willing to relocate to, theLower Mainland, B.C.Successful candidates must be willing to travel both locally and internationally, depending on project needs.

As the Field Crew Leader, you’ll be responsible for managing daily operations and leading geophysical survey crews (2-8 people) in various locations, supporting the successful execution of field projects across Canada and internationally. This role reports to senior management and plays a critical part in on-site logistics, personnel coordination, and field documentation.

More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Leading and supervising a field crew during geophysical survey projects
  • Coordinating day-to-day logistics, transportation, accommodations, and schedules
  • Ensuring crew safety and adherence to field protocols and safety procedures
  • Delegating tasks and providing on-site training and mentorship to team members
  • Monitoring project progress and adjusting plans as needed to meet timelines
  • Communicating daily with head office regarding project updates and needs
  • Completing field documentation, timesheets, and basic data entry each evening
  • Overseeing care, setup, and tracking of survey equipment and materials
  • Supporting client interaction and occasional coordination with local contractors
  • Maintaining an organized workflow and promoting a strong team culture in the field
  • Troubleshooting logistical or operational challenges
  • Traveling for extended periods to remote or international project locations

To qualify, you should haveexperience leading or working as part of small teams in field-based operations.Relevant experience in field logistics, geotechnical, forestry, environmental, or mechanical work is preferred.A valid driver's license is required.

Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued:

  • Bachelors degree or diploma in a technical field
  • Experience leading crews in remote or camp-based settings
  • Strong organizational and logistical coordination abilities
  • Comfort with basic spreadsheets, forms, and technology tools
  • Mechanical aptitude or hands-on troubleshooting experience
  • Experience working internationally or in varied climates
