What You Will Be Doing

CIBC’s Global Markets business focuses on delivering expert financial and economic analysis and savvy deal-making capabilities to clients in Canada and around the world. The Global Markets team supports fixed income, foreign exchange, commodities, derivatives, equities, and growth markets, and is focused on building a strong, innovative relationship-oriented bank.

Within CIBC Global Markets, the Alternate Solutions Group (ASG) was launched in 2013 with a mandate to develop innovative and creative technology-driven capital markets solutions. This group combines the innovative spirit and agility of a FinTech startup with the financial strength and governance of a major financial institution. ASG is recognized as a global leader in providing disruptive technological capital markets solutions, including Cross Border Payments, Dynamic Currency Conversion, and Foreign Cash. Its client base includes some of the largest banks, corporates, and CIBC’s retail clients.

We are hiring for the Global Payment Services (GPS) team, a leading product in ASG. GPS enables Retail & Corporate clients to send and receive funds globally in their preferred payment method and currency.

How You'll Succeed

• Data Engineering, Development, and Delivery: Communicate goals clearly to stakeholders and collaborate with cross-functional teams. Translate business requirements into user stories and specifications, facilitate sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives. Monitor product performance and use insights for continuous improvement. Support discussions with risk partners for requirements and approvals.
• Advancing the Data Analytics Pipeline: Collaborate with Product teams to prioritize features, identify new revenue opportunities, and analyze market trends. Assess new technologies to support scalable, stable systems.
• Leveraging Analytical Skills: Use data analytics tools to interpret complex data, provide insights, and monitor product and client metrics. Conduct research to identify trends and opportunities.
• Collaboration and Team Support: Support and mentor team members, build internal relationships, and ensure alignment with product goals.

Who You Are

• You have an undergraduate degree in STEM or related fields.
• You understand technology, foreign exchange, payments, and capital markets.
• You have 1-2 years of experience in data science, analytics, or similar roles.
• You thrive in fast-paced environments and can manage competing priorities.
• You are tech-savvy, experienced with large datasets, SQL, Python, R, and data cleaning/transformation.
• You have experience with machine learning/AI workflows and dashboard tools like PowerBI. Familiarity with frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-Learn is a plus.
• You embody values of trust, teamwork, and accountability.
