Dining Services Attendant
Accountability Objective
Under the direction of the Dining Room Services Supervisor, responsible for the delivery and service of meals to residents, maintaining cleanliness of dietary areas and equipment according to standards and regulations, and assisting with food preparation duties. A friendly smile and positive attitude are essential.
Background/Qualifications
- Grade 12 education
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions, fluent in English
- Dependable, responsible, and willing to learn
- Understanding of food service and preparation; Safe Food Handling Certificate required
- Experience in a hotel/restaurant or institutional setting preferred
- Bar experience and Smart Serve certification are assets
Schedule
This position requires evening and weekend work as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in and contribute to the Verve Quality Improvement (VQI) Program
- Serve meals to residents and guests in the dining room
- Set tables and clear dishes, utensils, etc.
- Clean and vacuum the dining area as required
- Wash dishes, pots, and clean kitchen equipment and areas according to procedures; sanitize dishwasher area after meals
- Handle vouchers for meal guests
- Serve snacks and portion desserts
- Receive and store food supplies
- Assist the cook with food preparation and assembly of plates
- Maintain effective communication with co-workers and supervisors
- Follow infection control protocols, e.g., outbreak management
- Attend in-service education sessions
- Accept and sign for deliveries, ensuring accurate paperwork
- Organize resident/guest meal service seating and billing
- Comply with all policies, procedures, and mandatory training
- Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and other relevant standards
