Reliability Improvement Technologist

St. John’s, NL

Contract position, until the end of 2025

Introduction

We're looking for a skilled Reliability Improvement Technologist to support a high-impact project focused on maintenance strategy optimization and reliability performance. This role suits candidates with electrical, mechanical, or instrumentation backgrounds, with tasks tailored to your area of expertise. You’ll be part of a collaborative team driving data-informed decisions, asset performance improvements, and risk-based prioritization across critical equipment systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise within your discipline to support project execution and improvement initiatives.
  • Analyze and review asset criticality rankings, maintenance plans, and associated documentation.
  • Conduct root cause failure analysis and contribute to reliability assessments.
  • Update and maintain discipline-specific engineering documentation as required.
  • Perform sparing analysis and prepare material master forms for key equipment and components.
  • Support planning and prioritization of project work scopes and ensure alignment with technical standards.
  • Recommend improvements that enhance safety, reliability, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Work independently on assigned scopes while contributing innovative, solutions-oriented input.

Requirements

  • Diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in Engineering Technology (Electrical, Mechanical, or Instrumentation).
  • 5–10 years of relevant industry experience in reliability engineering, maintenance planning, or asset integrity.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental standards and risk mitigation practices.
  • Familiarity with Transport Canada Regulations and Lloyd’s Register ship rules is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and coordination skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP systems.
  • Ability to manage technical reviews across multiple project scopes with minimal supervision.
