Position Overview :

Our client is seeking a skilled and experienced Underwriter to join our dynamic Specialty Lines team. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving the underwriting process, ensuring the profitability and risk management of our portfolios. As a Senior Underwriter, you will bring industry knowledge, an established broker network, a strategic mindset, and an entrepreneurial spirit to contribute to the growth and success of our underwriting department.

Responsibilities :
  1. Conduct thorough risk assessments for Professional Liability (Miscellaneous, Architects / Engineers / Contractors) & Management Liability (Non-profit / Private) accounts.
  2. Develop and underwrite a robust pipeline of new business opportunities.
  3. Evaluate and determine appropriate underwriting decisions, including policy terms, conditions, and pricing.
  4. Collaborate with key stakeholders, including brokers and clients, to understand their needs and provide expert guidance on risk management solutions.
  5. Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes to inform underwriting strategies and decisions.
  6. Mentor and provide guidance to other underwriters, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  7. Collaborate with the senior leadership team to contribute insights and support the creation of new insurance products.
  8. Participate in industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to enhance market presence and build professional relationships.
  9. Organize and lead marketing efforts within your assigned region, focusing on Financial Professional Services.
Qualifications :
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree or professional designations (e.g., CIP, RPLU, CRM).
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in underwriting Professional Liability and/or Management Liability.
  • Established network of brokers focusing on Professional Liability & Management Liability risks.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to assess and mitigate risks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations, market dynamics, and industry best practices.
  • Proficient in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
