United Way of Calgary and Area is looking for a Southern Alberta Regional Community Developer to join our Healthy Aging Alberta Community Impact and Partnerships team. Reporting to the Community Development Manager, this position will be part of the Healthy Aging Alberta team, a provincial initiative led by a Community Leadership Council and coordinated by United Way.

The ideal candidate will live in the Southern Alberta region.

What will you do

  • Lead network development and sector connection activities with community-based seniors-serving organizations to foster collaboration, address shared priorities, and strengthen sector coordination.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with sector members, stakeholders, and funded organizations through consistent community presence and an asset-based community development approach.
  • Support organizations funded through Healthy Aging Alberta’s granting streams and assist others seeking funding when granting opportunities become available, connecting them to sector resources and capacity-building supports.
  • Facilitate open, reciprocal communication across regional and provincial networks to understand community needs, share learnings, and promote engagement.
  • Identify, engage, and support coordination with existing regional and sub-regional networks within the assigned region.
  • Collaborate with the Healthy Aging Alberta team to develop and refine a Provincial Constellation of Networks model, informed by regional sector development efforts.
  • Lead and support capacity-building initiatives, including learning events, workshops, and action groups, to strengthen sector capacity and community involvement.
  • Contribute to developmental evaluation through data collection, monitoring, and reporting to support continuous learning and improvement.
  • Provide insights and information to inform Healthy Aging Alberta’s reporting, communications, and strategic initiatives.
  • Mobilize community networks to collectively address social issues and inform policy and strategic conversations related to provincial sector development.
  • Provide leadership and support for project-based initiatives and events aligned with community and sector priorities.

What you will bring

Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Experience working with community-based seniors-serving organizations in Alberta, with a strong understanding of the sector.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Teams, and other collaboration tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle for regional travel.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, timely reports.

  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, with practical experience authentically engaging with underrepresented groups.
