Position Overview
Reporting to the Director of Community Services, the Regional Fire Chief and Manager of Protective Services is responsible for Fire Services, Emergency Management, and Peace Officer / Bylaw Enforcement Services. The role involves overseeing fire response, fire prevention, training, inspection programs, legislated duties, and public education. The incumbent will also lead enforcement activities and emergency preparedness for Greenview.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Supervise Sergeant Enforcement Services, Deputy Fire Chiefs, and Administrative Support.
- Manage staffing, training, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
Major Responsibilities
- Advise the CAO, Director, CPOs, Fire Departments, and Council on fire, enforcement, and emergency issues.
- Design and coordinate emergency preparedness training and response plans.
- Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and local regulations.
- Serve as the Director of Emergency Management and respond to emergencies.
- Develop fire prevention programs and public safety materials.
- Develop policies and procedures for Enforcement Services and oversee operational budgets.
- Maintain equipment inventories and oversee safety codes programs.
- Prepare reports, recommendations, and attend meetings as needed.
- Enforce legislation and cooperate with volunteers and other departments.
- Develop mutual aid agreements and contribute to policy development.
Minor Responsibilities
- Investigate major motor vehicle accidents and manage rural fire pump programs.
- Oversee animal control contracts and liaise with officials on emergency grants.
- Research grants and report building deficiencies.
Qualifications / Education / Experience
- High-quality performance in duties listed above.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Post-secondary education in Emergency Management, Fire, Law Enforcement, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant fields, including supervisory roles.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and policies; Alberta Safety Codes Officer and Class 3 Operator’s License preferred.

Working Conditions
