Role Description

The technical manager in electrical engineering oversees the technical direction of the service engineering team, handling investigations and resolutions for customer vehicle failures, reliability issues, and development of aftermarket options. They are involved in all project phases, from problem definition to strategy implementation, acting as coach and mentor to the team.

Main responsibilities

  • Monitor and support the electrical engineers in the service team;
  • Define project technical requirements and prepare work for execution;
  • Guide the team through development milestones, ensuring quality and effectiveness;
  • Analyze issues on customer vehicles;
  • Represent the team in service bulletin and vehicle recall approval processes;
  • Ensure governance, decision-making, problem-solving, and coordination to meet quality and schedule goals;
  • Collaborate with design teams on vehicle reliability issues;
  • Develop vehicle improvement and maintenance solutions;
  • Implement design methodologies and integrate with design tools;
  • Participate in training and hiring processes;
  • Possess expertise in heavy vehicle systems.

What you need to succeed in this position

Knowledge

  • Principles of electrical engineering;
  • High power battery systems;
  • Logic controllers and embedded software;
  • AC/DC distribution systems;
  • Multi-phase motors;
  • Communication protocols: CANBus, J1939, Lin;
  • Heavy vehicle systems;
  • Data analysis on CAN networks;
  • Tools: MS Office Suite;
  • Bilingualism (French and English), with intermediate to advanced English skills required for communication outside Quebec;
  • Additional advantageous skills include experience with IQAN, Matlab/Simulink, vehicle controllers, 3D CAD programs like SolidWorks and Catia V5, PDM/PLM systems, and charging stations.

  • Position requires face-to-face work at least 3 days/week;
  • Interest in a dynamic environment;
  • Willingness to travel within Quebec, Canada, and the US (<5%).
