POSITION SUMMARY:

The Business Analyst for the Smart Chart Project (Cerner) is responsible for workflow analysis & process redesign, communication within the project and clinical teams, and maintenance of the Cerner system.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. A Health Science / Health Informatics or equivalent degree/work-related experience.
  2. Computer skills to include querying databases, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  3. Knowledge of clinical processes and experience in a healthcare environment is an asset.
  4. Business process analysis experience.
  5. Two years of recent, related experience.
  6. Results-oriented and able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  7. Demonstrate organizational skills and ability to set and meet priorities.
  8. Knowledge of and experience in systems analysis and design.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Works collaboratively with the clinical areas in analyzing and defining business processes.
  2. Assists in the implementation of new business processes.
  3. Works collaboratively with others to identify opportunities for improving information management processes in all areas of the organization.
  4. Participates in the identification and development of educational programs and resources to support staff adoption of information technology solutions.
  5. Provides leadership in the identification and development of policies and procedures related to informatics initiatives.
  6. Basic project planning skills.
  7. Participates in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the electronic health record.
  8. Works with the project team in design, implementation, and maintenance of changes to business processes.
  9. Develops and implements contingency planning.
  10. Must be able to work overtime on weekdays, weekends, and holidays as required by system support and maintenance.
  11. Must be part of the “on-call team,” providing support to end users after hours.
