Position Overview

Kiewit has an immediate opening for a dynamic Senior Drainage Engineer in our growing Kiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) Group based in Burnaby, BC. The Senior Drainage Engineer will work on an interdisciplinary team including: geotechnical engineers, structural engineers, transportation engineers, estimators, schedulers and construction experts to perform engineering analysis and design in support of design-build pursuits and ongoing projects.

Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering's Design-Build team is driving clients to turn to Kiewit during all stages of design-build projects. Through our integrated design and construction approach, our multi-disciplinary team works together to improve schedule, control costs and minimize risk. Our construction-focused engineers work collaboratively with our estimators and builders to design solutions that are innovative, constructible, and designed with a focus on safety. Location

This position is based out of our Burnaby, BC office.

Responsibilities

The candidate will be part of teams responsible for completing engineering assignments in support of heavy civil construction for Kiewit Construction Companies’ business including civil/municipal design, detailed hydrologic and hydraulic analysis (using various models and methods), and preparation of design plans, reports and technical memoranda.

  • Civil engineering design works for roads, storm drainage, sanitary sewers, and portable/fire water system
  • Hydrology & Hydraulics analysis of drainage system
  • Engineering design for industrial, commercial, and municipal infrastructures.
  • Act as Engineer-of-Record (EoR) for projects
  • Analyze and interpret technical data to prepare a variety of technical reports and recommendations.
  • Prepare cost estimates and specifications.
  • Review and seal construction drawings and as-construction records.
  • Supervise junior engineers, technologists and technicians.
  • Liaise with contractors, related engineering professionals and municipalities.
  • Respond to Request for Proposals and Request for Qualifications.
Qualifications
  • 15+ years post-graduate experience.
  • Design experience on Design-Build project preferred
  • Hydraulic and hydrologic modelling and analysis experience an asset
  • Knowledge of the software of AutoCAD Civil 3D
  • BS or MS in Civil Engineering
  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and stakeholders.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to work with individuals at all levels of the organization and support project efforts
  • The candidate will possess strong project management skills including scope development, schedule management and earned value management
  • Professional Canadian registration required

Base Compensation: $164,000/yr - $172,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
